I never expected to find a 256GB iPad Pro 10.5 with wifi and cellular (Verizon) for just $50 on Facebook Marketplace.

Would you grab a 2017 iPad Pro in 2025?

Considering this iPad originally launched in 2017 for $929, I had to jump on the deal.

But in 2025, is it still worth using?

Let’s dive into my experience.

The Facebook Marketplace Deal

I was scrolling through Marketplace when I spotted an iPad Pro 10.5 listed for just $50 - case and Apple Pencil included.

At first, I thought it was broken or a scam.

But after messaging the seller, I found out they upgraded and just wanted to get rid of it.

The condition? FLAWLESS and everything worked fine—including the Apple Pencil!

What Still Holds Up in 2025?

Despite being seven years old, this iPad is still surprisingly usable.

Here’s what I love:

256GB Storage – Plenty of space for apps, photos, and videos

ProMotion Display (120Hz) – Super smooth scrolling and gaming

Apple Pencil (1st Gen) Support – Great for sketching and note-taking

Cellular Connectivity – Just pop in a SIM and use it anywhere

Great for Media – YouTube, Netflix, and web browsing run smoothly

The Downsides

Of course, it’s not perfect:

Aging A10X Fusion Chip – Slighty slower compared to newer iPads

No More iPadOS Updates After iPadOS 17 – not compatible with iPadOS18 😦

iPad models compatible with iPadOS 18

Battery Wear – Might need a replacement if you use it heavily

For $50, this was an absolute steal.

It’s a perfect secondary device for media, light gaming, and even some productivity tasks.

While it’s not the best for heavy workloads, it’s still a great deal if you find one for cheap.
